How do I know if my generator needs a new AVR or a new controller?
An AVR problem usually shows up as unstable or dropping voltage while the engine itself sounds fine. A controller problem usually shows up as failure to auto start, failure to change over from mains, or a fault code on the display. If you’re not sure which one has failed, send us the generator model and the symptom and we can help narrow it down before you order.

What’s the difference between an AVR and a voltage regulator card inside a controller?
On most sets these are the same job split across two different components. The AVR sits at the alternator and manages excitation directly. The controller sits at the panel and manages start, stop and protection logic, and on some integrated systems it also handles voltage regulation itself.
